SAN ANTONIO — Retired Staff Sgt. Bobby Henline of San Antonio looks into the mirror and talks about how he used to be “mad at it.”
As he washes his face in a scene from a new PBS series, Henline recalls how he would cry and say, “Oh my God, this is what I look like.”
The visual impact of that early scene with the Iraq war veteran — the sole survivor of a Humvee explosion that burned more than 38 percent of his body — is powerful. Yet it almost pales next to the emotional wallop of other moments — particularly ones showing the strain in his marriage — in “Coming Back with Wes Moore,” on PBS.
